Background
The Hierecloe genus has long been associated with the sacred. The name comes from the Greek "hieros" which means holy, and "Chloe" which means grass - ie sacred grass.
Sweetgrass has traditionally been used by several native American tribes for cleansing, healing, smudging, offerings to deities and preparation for prayer, meditation and magical work.

Fragrance
Sweetgrass from this North American Hierochloe odorata has a soft and rich scent that is very characteristic. The fragrance is hearby with a clear sweet aroma that lingers a long while in the room.
Use & Magical Properties
Sweet Grass is used in a similar manner as salvia apiana (White Sage), but often after the sage. Sage drives away negative energies and Sweetgrass invite positive. Perfect for cleansing, healing, smudging, offerings to deities and preparation for prayer, meditation and magical work.
